Joe and his wife Ann began renting vacation cottages on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 1968.  Their first office was located at milepost 11.5 on the beach road.  The following year they moved about half a mile north to a location beside what is now Tortuga’s Lie Restaurant.  To keep up with the growth of the company, in 1984 Joe Lamb, Jr. & Associates moved to their present office at milepost 2 on the bypass.  Again, to keep pace with the company’s success, Joe Lamb, Jr. & Associates will soon be operating from milepost 2.7 on Highway 158.  Joe Lamb recalls, “We started with only 18 cottages.  Today we have more than 550 vacation rentals, several commercial properties, and, of course properties for sale.”

Vacation Rental Recycling Program Keeps Over 175 Tons of Waste Out of Landfills In 2009

Hatteras Island, North Carolina – November 2009/Midgett Realty/Press Release – Midgett Realty offering more than 560 vacation rental properties on Hatteras Island and The Outer Banks since the 1960’s is pleased to announce that it is the first and only property management company on Hatteras Island to have 100% participation from its homeowners in its recycling efforts. In 2008 they doubled the amount of recyclable glass, plastic and aluminum to over 60 tons. By providing curbside recycling to every vacation rental property they manage; reducing the amount of paper leaving their office by taking advantage of technology and by not printing a brochure (27 tons of paper) they estimate by the end of 2009 they will have reduced waste by 177 tons. Close to six times the amount of recyclable material in three short years.
