According to Joe Lamb, Jr., founder of Joe Lamb, Jr. & Associates, “We had simply become too crowded.  Clients were struggling to find a place to park, and checking in guests during peak season had become a challenge.  In our new place we have much more parking space and handicap accessibility. Joe and his wife Ann began renting vacation cottages on the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 1968.  Their first office was located at milepost 11.5 on the beach road.  The following year they moved about half a mile north to a location beside what is now Tortuga’s Lie Restaurant.  To keep up with the growth of the company, in 1984 Joe Lamb, Jr. & Associates moved to their present office at milepost 2 on the bypass.  Again, to keep pace with the company’s success, Joe Lamb, Jr. & Associates will soon be operating from milepost 2.7 on Highway 158.  Joe Lamb recalls, “We started with only 18 cottages.  Today we have more than 550 vacation rentals, several commercial properties, and, of course properties for sale.”

Vacation Rental Recycling Program Keeps Over 175 Tons of Waste Out of Landfills In 2009

Midgett Realty started their recycling efforts in 2007 and they were able to divert over 30 tons of materials from landfills. By providing curbside recycling to every vacation rental property they manage; reducing the amount of paper leaving their office by taking advantage of technology and by not printing a brochure (27 tons of paper) they estimate by the end of 2009 they will have reduced waste by 177 tons. Close to six times the amount of recyclable material in three short years.
